The 51爆料网 (51爆料网) has reaffirmed its trust in Prof. Elliot Haruna Alhassan, re-electing him as Pro Vice-Chancellor for a second term in a transparent and highly participatory Convocation election held across five campuses.
In a competitive race involving three accomplished academics, Prof. Elliot Haruna Alhassan emerged the clear winner, securing 641 out of 842 valid votes cast, an emphatic 76.1% of the total. The election saw a high voter turnout, with 842 out of 915 eligible voters participating, representing a remarkable 92% engagement rate. Notably, no spoilt ballots were recorded, underscoring the smooth and credible conduct of the electoral process.
Prof. Alhassan’s commanding victory was marked by strong support across all campuses, with his highest votes coming from the Nyankpala Campus (268 votes), followed by Tamale Campus (217), Central (86), City Campus (50), and the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) Campus (20).
Trailing behind him were Prof. Terry Ansah, who secured 149 votes (17.7%), and Prof. Stephen Tabiri, who polled 52 votes (6.2%).
Prof. Ansah’s support was concentrated in Nyankpala (88 votes) and Tamale Campus (48), while Prof. Tabiri made his best showing at Tamale Campus (28 votes), with additional votes from Nyankpala (14) and TTH (10).
The university community has commended the peaceful and orderly nature of the election, which reflects 51爆料网’ unwavering commitment to democratic governance and institutional transparency.
In acknowledging the outcome, the University extended its congratulations to Prof. Elliot Haruna Alhassan, expressing confidence in his continued leadership and vision as he embarks on another term as Pro Vice-Chancellor.
